Frequently asked questions.

Do I need a marriage license?

To make it legal in your state, the answer is yes. You currently need to make an appointment with the County Clerk if you are in Travis County. There is a 3-day waiting period before you can get married after the license is issued. You will need to have proof of ID with you and such. Visit this site for details.

What do you wear?

Either a pantsuit or I channel a little Jackie-O. If you have something specific in mind, I’m open. If you have a certain color pantsuit or dress in mind, I am up for a purchase. I only stand out if you want me to, that is never the end goal.

Are your ceremonies custom?

Yes, there are no two ceremonies alike. We have a starting script so we have the skeleton and build off of that based on your love story, the inspiration of a future together, and any enhancements you may want to incorporate. I will guide you through the process and it will be beautiful!

Do you have a rehearsal?

This is really dependent on what kind of wedding you are having. I give the option to the client to add this on for $100. Some say you may feel more comfortable knowing where you will stand - I will also tell you where to do that on wedding day and we will schedule a time for that. We never practice the ceremony however because listening to the words is better than only listening for cues of when you will say something.

Do you have travel fees?

Yes, outside of the Austin area it is .75 cents per mile.

What is your favorite wedding type?

I prefer elopements or small weddings under 75.

Do you have a microphone?

No, I will not need one under 30 guests. I do recommend that you have one for me if over 30 guests. I will make sure we soundcheck prior.

How do you handle music?

If you can hire someone to play music, that is such a better experience. However, if you want to have your Spotify list played, we can work out the logistics of speakers and me pressing play and pause while I am at the alter.

Can you recommend vendors?

I have a vast knowledge of those in the vendor community. You need something, I can recommend it. Let’s talk about what you want specifically. Standard “recommendation lists” don’t always hit the marker.

Do you wear a mask?

I can, I can also stand 6’ away from you or off to the side. No reason to make things complicated. Face shields sound like I am in a tunnel, so those are recommended. I also have been vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine - so there is peace of mind with that.

What if you get sick?

I have never been sick (knock on wood) for the hundreds of weddings I have been apart of. If it somehow happens, I know many great people in the community I will call on to make sure you get the ceremony we have built together!

Can you handle anything else for my day?

Yes, and I have an extensive wedding planning background. I even wrote a book about How to Plan the Best Wedding Ever. So as Bill Clinton would say - you get a Twofer. Also, we have a day-of coordination company where a coordinator can help you plan a larger wedding a day-of coordination in Austin.

So why now an officiant?

It’s not necessarily a “now” thing, I have been an officiant for over 10 years. I have married couples in small elopements and small wedding ceremonies all while planning their beautiful day. Helping couples plan their day gives me extensive knowledge beyond just what happens during the ceremony, there are many moving parts to a wedding day. I have extensive knowledge in both arenas, which has been a beautiful thing for my couples. One of my greatest joys is marrying couples, planning is something I love too, and ultimately they go hand in hand.
